Consequences of committing fraud.
Where fraud is established we have three possible alternatives and they are:
-Applying a formal Caution and a central record is kept of the fraud. The Council or other Government bodies will take the caution into account if the person offends again.
-An Administration Penalty / fine may be applied which will need to be repaid along with any monies falsely claimed.
-As Benefit Fraud is a criminal offence, Knowsley MBC actively seek to prosecute offenders where this is appropriate.
The above action is taken in addition to the offender repaying monies falsely claimed.
