Schools carbon-cutting campaign proves success

PUPILS have played a vital role in helping their schools dramatically reduce their carbon emissions - and energy bills - as a green campaign proved a major success.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and the Carbon Trust worked together on the Low Carbon Schools programme, designed to raise awareness of the importance of going green among pupils and staff.

The authority is aiming to save £12.8m and slash carbon emissions by 40 per cent by 2014.
