Preventing Homelessness

The Council works hard to prevent households from becoming homeless whenever possible, as described below:

- Private tenants. For private tenants threatened with homelessness, the Council will work with the landlord to see if the household can remain in their tenancy.

- Owner occupiers. The Council administers the government's Mortgage Rescue Scheme in Stratford-on-Avon District area and will assess whether a household is eligible for the Scheme. Owner occupiers who are in difficulties with their mortgage payments should speak to their lender as soon as possible.
