Inspirational young person of the year

A sports-mad roofer has been crowned ‘inspirational young person of the year’, after volunteering hours of his time helping to coach youngsters in cricket. Orane Bennett, 25, scooped the award at Circle 33’s prestigious Community Spirit Awards last night, honouring residents who make an outstanding contribution to their neighbourhoods.

Circle 33 Housing Trust tenant Orane got involved with Circle 33’s partner, the Cricket Foundation, this July when he joined their StreetChance programme on the Priory Court Estate in Waltham Forest. The scheme, which runs across a number of urban venues, encourages people from different backgrounds to develop a love of the sport and get playing.
