Seasonal Flu

This year's Seasonal Flu vaccination programme commenced on the 3rd of October. The annual vaccine is available for those most at risk of flu complications and will help protect them against the strains that are likely to be circulating during the upcoming winter flu season.

For the season 2011/12, the World Health Organisation recommends the composition of influenza vaccine (northern hemisphere) is:

- The pandemic A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus

- A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2)-like virus

- B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus
