Warrington launched a great marketing campaign In October 2010 using all channels possible to promote their service; radio, literature, an advertising truck as well as community demonstrations.
"We tied our awareness campaign in with national Customer Care week, which enabled us to promote the services our Contact Warrington centre. The Contact Warrington staff did all the demos and we also did demos at the Centre for Independent Living for the disabled community. The Contact Warrington staff also provided the voices for the radio ads." said Gabi Lockyer, Communications Account Manager Neighbourhoods & Culture.
Demonstrations for staff were held at two locations to get them up to speed with what Looking Local is, how it works and what it offers. Whilst shoppers at Warrington Market got to try the TV service in a mocked up lounge setting in the food hall.
In addition Warrington:
- Drove an environmentally friendly 'green machine' ad van which drove around the borough advertising the service
- Issued information via internal mail, our internal newsletter and on notice boards
- Put information about the service in their neighbourhood newsletter The Wire, which goes to all the homes in the borough
- Had small handouts for people to take away from the demos (see attached)
- Used posters in the run up to show where Looking Local would be demo'd (see attached)
